Scoily ("we", "us", "Scoily") is a private space for parents and guardians to stay connected with their child's school class. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than pure legalese.
01Who this applies to
This policy covers the Scoily mobile app and this website. Scoily is currently available to parents and guardians of children at primary schools in Ireland.
02Information we collect
Account information — your email address and password (your password is hashed and never visible to us or anyone else), or, if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, the name and email address those services share with us.
Profile information — your display name and, if you add one, a profile photo.
Information about your children — entered by you, the parent or guardian: first name, date of birth, class/school enrolment, and any optional health or allergy notes you choose to add for event organisers.
Content you create — messages, announcements, board posts, poll responses, event RSVPs, and any photos or documents you upload to a class or household.
Household information — links between co-parents or guardians who share access to the same child.
Device information — a device token used solely to deliver push notifications, and basic device/app version details used to diagnose bugs.
We do not collect your precise location, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the app.
03Why we collect it
- To create and secure your account
- To connect you with your child's class, school and other parents in that class
- To operate core features: chat, announcements, events, polls, and class funds
- To send you notifications relevant to your child's class
- To keep the platform safe — for example, acting on reports of inappropriate content
- To respond when you contact support
04Children's privacy
Scoily is built for use by parents and guardians — children do not create accounts, do not log in, and cannot access the app directly. Any information about a child is provided and controlled entirely by their parent or guardian, who can edit or remove it at any time from within the app.
06Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with our infrastructure provider in the European Union (Ireland). Scoily is currently an Ireland-only service.
07How long we keep your data
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your account and associated personal data, other than what we're required to retain for legal or safety reasons.
08Your rights, and how to use them
Because Scoily operates in Ireland, you have rights under GDPR to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data. We've built these directly into the app so you don't need to wait on us:
- Export your data — from Profile, you can download a copy of your data at any time.
- Delete your account — from Profile → Delete account, you can permanently remove your account and its data.
- Correct your information — you can edit your profile and your children's details at any time from within the app.

09Security
All data is encrypted in transit. Access to your household and class data is restricted to the people you'd expect — members of the same household or class — enforced at the database level, not just in the app's interface.
11Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in the app before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
